'First dude' emails released

Nearly 3,000 pages of emails show Todd Palin was heavily involved in matters of state.

MSNBC reports in a very long story this morning about the contents of nearly 3,000 pages of Todd Palin-related emails released by the State of Alaska under a Freedom of Information Act request filed by MSNBC and NBC News. The report says that the emails contain evidence of all sorts of stunning behavior that many Alaskans have suspected for quite some time. About 1,200 separate emails were released this week in the request, but 243 of them were withheld on the grounds of executive privilege, and many were heavily redacted. The un-redacted emails show, among other things, that Todd Palin was involved in judicial and state board appointments, contract negotiations with public employee unions, also that he received background checks on a corporate CEO, and passed information marked "confidential" (about what appears to be an awarded employee bonus) from his employer (BP) to a state attorney. The still-secret emails, MSNBC judges from the subject lines, show that the First Dude was involved in a laundry list of additional state issues. There's way too much in the article to pass along here, so you'll have to read more here. For a short summary of major findings, read this USA Today brief.

Wow. Just a whole lot of nothing.

Geez, JimAK, you're pathetic. There's no excuse for the power he was wielding in the state government. None. He wasn't an elected official and he wasn't' a state employee. He should have been home keeping track of what his kids were doing and making dinner. That whole family is a mess.

My problem isn't that he was consulted now and then on matters of state, after all, he does know a few people around the state...it's that his opinion appears to have carried so much weight in the decision process. A few times, it appears as if his was the only opinion counted -- and that scares me. And that thing about giving him someone's worker's comp info looks like a lawsuit waiting to happen.

It just goes to show that behind every great puppet there is someone to pull the strings.

I am impressed with how Todd Palin is there for his wife. God said we become one when we marry. Alaska is getting two great leaders for the price of one! That's great! I support them both. If I were her, I would be proud of him, too! He's good lookin'! So is she so they make a great team. It is good to see a husband and wife working together, for the good of this country, instead striving against one another and competing. God bless the Palins and God bless the USA!!!
